THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases that involved child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the legal realm as she actively served as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
