THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond her legal profession as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law – divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the goal of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
